Guimaras welcomes their Australian Awards scholars

(August 5, 2015) DURING its regular flag raising ceremony and weekly updating, the provincial government of Guimaras (PGG) officially rolled out the welcome banner for the four PGG employees who successfully fulfilled their respective courses under the Australian Awards, a prestigious international scholarship and fellowship program funded by the Australian Government.

After more than a year of rigorous educational combat in Australia, Judy D. Bulquiren, Neil P. Catalan, Yolanda M. Aguda and John V. Marahay were given a warm welcome by Gov. Samuel T. Gumarin, together with the provincial employees and other Guimarasnons.

Bulquiren took her Masters in Business and International Tourism while Aguda got her Graduate Diploma for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. A Graduate Diploma for Professional Accounting was gotten by Marahay, and a Graduate Diploma on Environmental Management for Catalan.

While in Australia, Bulquiren always says, “I came from the island of the famous mango in the world.” She continued, “So I was their favorite because they like mangoes.”

Australia Awards is an educational ground that offers the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development. /PN
